Macalester College Scots Tour Italy with AFW

The Macalester College football team landed in Rome, Italy to invest in educational touring and compete with an Italian American football club team in Bergamo. Coach Tony Jennison’s Fighting Scots will be touring Italy for a week including an excursion to Switzerland from May 18 – 26. The journey starts out with a couple days in Rome touring the Coliseum, classical Rome and Vatican City. The team, staff and family members will then move north to the Tuscany region for day stops in Siena and Florence. After a day on the “Italian Riviera” of Cinque Terra the last third of the tour will be spent in Milan, Como and on International Game Day with the Bergamo Lions. A day on the shores of Lake Como in both Lugano, Switzerland and Como itself wraps up the Italian adventure.

On Sunday, May 26th the Macalester Scots will play the Bergamo Lions American Football Club. Macalester, located in St. Paul, Minnesota plays in the Midwest Conference of NCAA Division III and went 5-5 the past two seasons. Bergamo competes in the 1st Division of the Italian Football league. Kickoff is 4:00pm Bergamo time and the game can be found on-line at Bergamo Lions YouTube.
