Four Captains Lead AFW ELITE to Victory Over Team Ireland

American Football Worldwide announces its captains for the AFW-USA ELITE team that defeated the national 20U team of Ireland 53-6 on April 8, 2017 in Dublin.  The USA representative team was lead by William “Mikey” Crespo (Hempfield HS, Landisville PA), Griffin Johns (Gardner Edgerton, Gardner KS), Nate Matis (Spanish Fork HS, Spanish Fork UT) and Jahi Stigall (DePaul College Prep, Chicago IL).

Johns was one of two quarterbacks on the squad leading the team on three touchdown drives.  He was an efficient 6 for 11  for 48 yards passing.  In the running game, Johns was a dominant force going for 69 years in 7 carries and one touchdown.

Stigall started the game at running back and was one of three USA players with two touchdowns.  He started the scoring from 23-yards out with an explosive run on AFW ELITE’s second play from scrimmage.  He finished with 93 yards on 11 carries and another rushing touchdown from 2-yards out.

Crespo anchored the AFW ELITE secondary which limited Team Ireland to a defensive shutout.  (Ireland scored on and interception return.)  He also had a reception for 6 yards.

Matis took charge making the defensive calls from his inside linebacker position.  He lead the team in tackles, had an interception and a key 4th-down pass break-up when Ireland threatened from inside the 10-yard line.
