Since 2013, American Football Worldwide has led the way in creating groundbreaking international competitions, from the first-ever matchups between U.S. high school players and foreign national teams to unforgettable college team tours across Europe. AFW’s history is built on making history — giving young athletes the chance to represent their country, expand their horizons, and return home stronger, more confident, and inspired to achieve even more.

2013
2013 AFW History

Since 2013, American Football Worldwide has been pioneering international experiences that combine athletic achievement with cultural exploration. AFW’s inaugural 19U/High School ELITE TEAM made history with the first-ever U.S.–France matchup, helping to grow American football abroad while giving players and families a once-in-a-lifetime cultural journey across Normandy and Paris.

2014
2014 AFW History

In 2014, AFW expanded its impact, sending a second 19U/HS team to France and launching its first college tours, taking Ohio Wesleyan University to Italy and the University of Dubuque to Spain and France.

2015
2015 AFW History

In 2015, AFW deepened its partnership with Italy’s national federation, launching a tradition of spring tours where U.S. athletes competed against Italy’s best 19U players, while also expanding college tours to Italy for schools like Case Western Reserve University.

2016
2016 AFW History

In 2016, AFW’s reach grew with multiple college tours across Italy and Ireland, hosting teams from Augustana College, Washington & Jefferson, Carthage College, and Sewanee–University of the South, all while continuing its successful 19U/HS Italy program.

2017
2017 AFW History

In 2017, AFW’s ELITE TEAM made history again by playing Ireland’s 19U national team for the first time. The college program expanded as well, bringing Ohio Wesleyan to Spain and Wartburg College to Italy.

2018
2018 AFW History

In 2018, AFW strengthened its USA–Italy rivalry and continued its Ireland series, while college tours ventured into Switzerland and Ireland, serving schools like Case Western Reserve University and the University of Dubuque.

2019
2019 AFW History

In 2019, AFW marked its fifth consecutive year of elite high school tours to Italy, while college teams from Augustana and Macalester Colleges traveled and competed in Ireland and Italy.

2020
2020 AFW History

In 2020, a robust tour schedule — including the first-ever USA vs. Spain 19U game and multiple college tours to Germany, Austria, Spain, and Italy — was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2022
2022 AFW History

In 2022, American Football Worldwide proudly returned, ready to continue its mission of empowering ambitious young athletes through football, travel, and life-changing global discovery.
