The Augustana College Vikings continued their long tradition of exploration and international competition landing in Ireland for a week of tour and competition. In between overnighting in Galway on the west coast, Augie Football will venture to Northern Ireland to play the outstanding and proud Belfast Trojans American Football Club on Saturday, May 25th. The tour concludes with three nights in famous and fun Dublin.
The first two days of the tour has Augustana Football touring Galway with an excursion to the famous Cliffs of Moher. There will also be free time provided to explore this festive seaside city.
On the way to Belfast, the Augustana tour party which also includes some adventurous family members, will stop in County Meath for a visit to Trim Castle and its authentic Irish village. Upon arrival in Belfast the group will receive a guided tour, then rest up for the game on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00pm Belfast time. The Belfast Trojans will be attempting to webcast the game on their Facebook page. A post-game social and meal will take place between the two teams and fan bases.
On Sunday the tour group will head to Dublin and after a stop in Skeeries, the group will tour Ireland’s capital city, visit St. Patrick’s, the Gaelic Athletic Association Hall of Fame and Croke Park, Trinity College and view Book of Kells, Guinness Storehouse and more.
The team returns home on Wednesday, May 29th.
